B-52's Steal Six Nuclear Weapons, Take Them From N.Dakota to Louisiana...

The Pentagon admitted today that they lost six nuclear weapons for almost 36 hours when they were accidentally transported in a B-52 from Minot AFB in North Dakota to Barksdale AFB, Louisiana. The rock group The B-52's had nothing to do with it - You WHAT ???? MIS-SILE !! Busted. Sorry, I got stuck on Love Shack there for a minute...

Obviously, nothing happened. They located the weapons and sent them back, but they sure did make a big fuss about it. For us here in the Pee Dee, that's nothing. They rest of the county never had a live nuclear warhead dropped on them like Mars Bluff did back in the 50's. luckily, it didn't go off.

Mike, part of the "physics package" that landed in Mars Bluff, according to Greenpeace's big book of nuclear horrors, did indeed explode, though absent some of Col. Kong's secret ingredients, (IE an initiator that takes more to explain than I've got time to do) only the convetional explosives detonated and spread the uranium or the "deadly" plutionum across a farm field.

Allegedly a similar bomb "fell" out of the bomb bay of a B-47 flying out ot Savannah and remains in the mud somewhere off Tybee Island/Savannah Beach.

As to B-52s I can recall circa 67/68 while visiting Scranton, seeing a 'Buffy' going southwest, low enough to see the insignia on the "Hound Dog" missiles slung on the two inboard pylons, so I know they've also overflown Florence county... low enough that it was good that it wasn't legal deer season.
