Erection 2008: Brownback to Drop Out Friday.

He Really Is Brokeback... Poor Fundraising Causes Sam to Drop Out.
Finally, a second tier candidate that has seen the light. Sen. Sam Brownback (R-KS) is reported to drop out of the race for the Presidency on Friday. Like I said previously, Brownback and other far right candidates' death knell sounded when Fred Thompson got in the race. So far, Brownback is the only one to realize it.
I had an idea things had slowed down when the Brownback camp announced that they didn't owe anyone any money, rather than how much they raised ($800k). But that's all in the past. Let's give the man credit for seeing the light and getting out. My guess is Duncan Hunter or Tom Tancredo will be next. Ron Paul is too kooky to get out....

If Hunter makes the move to go out, I half expect him to ally with Thompson, as close as both are on the issues.

An aside, Sam would make a fine HHS secretary if he chooses to give up the Senate seat. The strategies of a Senate balance of seats could be in the slip stream though.

I don't think that would happen. Like I always say, Senators all think they are smarter than everyone else. Brownback will stay in his seat. Too much loss of power.
