Making Lemonade From Lemons: Trees Destroyed by Katrina Now Are Monuments.

This is a story about 4 Live Oak Trees in Biloxi , Mississippi - and someone who had a great idea. The trees lie right in front of Hwy 90, which is the local road that runs the length of the Gulf of Mexico. Like many trees, the 4 oaks were beaten into submission on August 28th, 2005. When they failed to bloom, and it was obvious that they had died, the city was going to cut them down - until someone had an idea......

Armed with little more than a chainsaw, the 'sculptor' went to work.........

After a while, the chainsaw sculptor found some of the wildlife that had been gone when Katrina hit. In one tree was a Pelican.........

In another were hawks, eagles, and a seagull..........

And even a tree with a family of herons........

So, where the hell am I going with this? First , you can make a good thing even out of bad things - dead trees, switchgrass, even lost love. Secondly, if you take a long enough look at something, you can see soemthing positive in it. I don't know if those birds have come back to Biloxi, but I do know thing - they were there the whole time.
